Stoiko Ivanov 9e02600b0c add 3 patches for lintian errors
* wrong-path-for-interpreter is a lintian error, one single zfs-test used
/usr/bin/ksh instead of /bin/ksh.
* python-script-but-no-python-dep was reported because test-runner.py had
/usr/bin/python as shebang, but the buildsystem and our dependencies expected
/usr/bin/python3
* executable-not-elf-or-script were results of some files being installed with
the wrong permissions

Stoiko Ivanov 512fb2e4a9 zfs/control: add spl as transitional dummy package
since splat has been removed from zfs (during the repository merge of zfs and
spl, the userspace spl package does not contain any files (apart from metafiles)

keep the package as metapackage, s.t. the old splat manpage and binary gets
removed upon upgrade.

Stoiko Ivanov 5b9cd1ad57 zfsutils-linux: persist hostid in postinst script
/etc/hostid does not exist on a minimal debian system.
ZFS reads its contents for MMP (zpool property multihost set to on), and needs
the value to be stable.
Before the SPL->ZFS merge the spl userspace package wrote the file (by parsing/
mangling the output of hostid (1)) Since ZFS provides the zgenhostid script,
which creates a random 4 byte hostid and writes it to /etc/hostid, we use that
instead. (hostid (1) default to mangling a configured ip of the system, which
can be the same across multiple installs (install happens with the same ip)

Thomas Lamprecht d064c14aad fix cherry-picking relevant 0.6.5.4 changes
When cherry-picking range A..B the commit A won't get cherry picked,
only the commits after A.
To fix that use range A^..B as ^ selects the previous commit.

This fixes the build of zfs with linux kernel version 4.4 as one
compatibility change commit wasn't included.

zfs-import: Perform verbatim import using cache file

We use systemd, so those updates are pointless.

Proxmox VE packaging for ZFS on Linux

This is based on code from:

https://github.com/zfsonlinux/pkg-zfs.git

We merged updates from the precice branch into the older wheezy
branch.
We removed the dkms/modules related code, because we ship the
modules with the kernel.

Description: Solaris Porting Layer user-space utilities for Linux (dummy)
The Solaris Porting Layer (SPL) is a Linux kernel module which provides
many of the Solaris kernel APIs. This shim layer makes it possible to
run Solaris kernel code in the Linux kernel with relatively minimal
modification. The Solaris Porting LAyer Tests (SPLAT) is a Linux kernel
module which provides a testing harness for the SPL module.
.
SPL can be particularly useful when you want to track upstream Illumos
(or any other OpenSolaris fork) development closely and don't want the
overhead of maintaining a large patch which converts Solaris primitives
to Linux primitives.
.
This is a transitional dummy package. It can safely be removed.

Subject: [PATCH] increase-default-zcmd-allocation-to-256K
Increase default zcmd allocation to 256K (LP: #567557)
When creating hundreds of clones (for example using containers with
LXD) cloning slows down as the number of clones increases over time.
The reason for this is that the fetching of the clone information
using a small zcmd buffer requires two ioctl calls, one to determine
the size and a second to return the data. However, this requires
gathering the data twice, once to determine the size and again to
populate the zcmd buffer to return it to userspace.
These are expensive ioctl() calls, so instead, make the default buffer
size much larger: 256K. This may sound large, but on 64 bit systems
running ZFS this is not a huge chunk of memory for the speed
improvement we gains for large sets of clones:
16K zcmd 256K zcmd

this fix is a more generic fix to cover all zcmd cases.

Subject: [PATCH] Fix race in parallel mount's thread dispatching algorithm
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
Strategy of parallel mount is as follows.
1) Initial thread dispatching is to select sets of mount points that
don't have dependencies on other sets, hence threads can/should run
lock-less and shouldn't race with other threads for other sets. Each
thread dispatched corresponds to top level directory which may or may
not have datasets to be mounted on sub directories.
2) Subsequent recursive thread dispatching for each thread from 1)
is to mount datasets for each set of mount points. The mount points
within each set have dependencies (i.e. child directories), so child
directories are processed only after parent directory completes.
The problem is that the initial thread dispatching in
zfs_foreach_mountpoint() can be multi-threaded when it needs to be
single-threaded, and this puts threads under race condition. This race
appeared as mount/unmount issues on ZoL for ZoL having different
timing regarding mount(2) execution due to fork(2)/exec(2) of mount(8).
`zfs unmount -a` which expects proper mount order can't unmount if the
mounts were reordered by the race condition.
There are currently two known patterns of input list `handles` in
`zfs_foreach_mountpoint(..,handles,..)` which cause the race condition.
1) #8833 case where input is `/a /a /a/b` after sorting.
The problem is that libzfs_path_contains() can't correctly handle an
input list with two same top level directories.
There is a race between two POSIX threads A and B,
* ThreadA for "/a" for test1 and "/a/b"
* ThreadB for "/a" for test0/a
and in case of #8833, ThreadA won the race. Two threads were created
because "/a" wasn't considered as `"/a" contains "/a"`.
2) #8450 case where input is `/ /var/data /var/data/test` after sorting.
The problem is that libzfs_path_contains() can't correctly handle an
input list containing "/".
There is a race between two POSIX threads A and B,
* ThreadA for "/" and "/var/data/test"
* ThreadB for "/var/data"
and in case of #8450, ThreadA won the race. Two threads were created
because "/var/data" wasn't considered as `"/" contains "/var/data"`.
In other words, if there is (at least one) "/" in the input list,
the initial thread dispatching must be single-threaded since every
directory is a child of "/", meaning they all directly or indirectly
depend on "/".
In both cases, the first non_descendant_idx() call fails to correctly
determine "path1-contains-path2", and as a result the initial thread
dispatching creates another thread when it needs to be single-threaded.
Fix a conditional in libzfs_path_contains() to consider above two.

+# DESCRIPTION:
+# Verify parallel mount ordering is consistent.
+#
+# There was a bug in initial thread dispatching algorithm which put threads
+# under race condition which resulted in undefined mount order. The purpose
+# of this test is to verify `zfs unmount -a` succeeds (not `zfs mount -a`
+# succeeds, it always does) after `zfs mount -a`, which could fail if threads
+# race. See github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/issues/{8450,8833,8878} for details.
+#
+# STRATEGY:
+# 1. Create pools and filesystems.
+# 2. Set same mount point for >1 datasets.
+# 3. Unmount all datasets.
+# 4. Mount all datasets.
+# 5. Unmount all datasets (verify this succeeds).

# The hostname and hostid of the last system to access a ZFS pool are stored in
# the ZFS pool itself. A pool is foreign if, during `zpool import`, the
# current hostname and hostid are different than the stored values thereof.
#
# The hostname and hostid on Solaris are intrinsic, but they are not on Linux,
# so the spl kernel module invokes /bin/hostname and /usr/bin/hostid from the
# userland in its initialization routine.
#
# However, these two indentifiers are usually undefined in the Linux initramfs
# environment, so the /etc/hostname and /etc/hostid files must be added to the
# initrd. Things like a DHCP lease change can affect the hostid too.
#
# ZFS requires stable values for hostname and hostid, but basic Linux systems
# do not. The hostid is therefore stabilized by creating the /etc/hostid file
# in the regular environment if it does not already exist. An undefined
# hostname is usuallly stable.
#
# Neither /etc/hostname nor /etc/hostid are controlled configuration files in
# Debian distributions, but the spl package nevertheless installs a dummy
# /etc/hostid file that contains the HW_INVALID_HOSTID sentinal value so that
# the package manager will track it.
# This result is always an eight-character hexadecimal number sans the 0x
# prefix. Remember that /usr/bin/hostid generates a value if the /etc/hostid
# file doesn't exist or is malformed.

#
# The /etc/hostname file on i386 and amd64 systems must be a little endian

Subject: Prevent manual builds in the DKMS source.
Print an instructive error messsage and exit if the `dkms.conf` file
exists when the userland is configured. (ie: `--with-config=user`)
A non-trivial number of people try to rebuild ZoL from the
`/usr/src/zfs` tree, which is modified to better satisfy Debian
packaging policy and contains only the module sources for DKMS.
Regardless, local installations usually break managed installations,
so this autotools test could be further enhanced to check whether
ZFS has a DKMS registration.

Subject: Add libuutil to LIBADD for libzfs and libzfs_core
Resolve spurious dpkg-shlibdeps warnings like this:
warning: symbol strlcpy used by libzfs_core.so found in none of the libraries
This happens because dpkg-shlibdeps does not recursively search for symbols.

Subject: vdev_id: use mawk-compatible regular expression
Slot mapping in vdev_id doesn't work on systems using mawk as the 'awk'
alternative. A regular expression in map_slot() contains an unquoted
empty string following the alternation (|) operator, which results in an
"missing operand" error with mawk. The solution is to rearrange the
expression so the alternation has two operands.
