The ziltest.sh script is a test case designed to verify the correct functioning of the ZIL. It's being added to the scripts directory so it can be easily added to the automated regression testing. The general idea is to build up an intent log from a bunch of diverse user commands without actually committing them to the file system. Then copy the file system, replay the intent log and compare the file system and the copy. Native ZFS for Linux!
ZFS is an advanced file system and volume manager which was originally developed for Solaris and is now maintained by the Illumos community.
ZFS on Linux, which is also known as ZoL, is currently feature complete. It includes fully functional and stable SPA, DMU, ZVOL, and ZPL layers.
