Etienne Dechamps 0408008b33 Make configure builtin-aware.
This patch adds a new option to configure: --enable-linux-builtin. When
this option is used, the following happens:

 - Compilation of kernel modules is disabled.

 - A failure to find UTS_RELEASE is followed by a suggestion to run
   "make prepare" on the kernel source tree.

This patch also adds a new test which tries to compile an empty module
as a basic toolchain sanity test. If it fails and the option was
specified, the error is followed by a suggestion to run "make scripts"
on the kernel source tree.

The Solaris Porting Layer (SPL) is a Linux kernel module which provides many of the Solaris kernel APIs. This shim layer makes it possible to run Solaris kernel code in the Linux kernel with relatively minimal modification. This can be particularly useful when you want to track upstream Solaris development closely and dont want the overhead of maintaining a large patch which converts Solaris primitives to Linux primitives.

To build packages for your distribution:

$ ./configure
$ make pkg

Full documentation for building, configuring, and using the SPL can be found at: http://zfsonlinux.org
